There is a web hosting company called Netcetera. Now, this company hosts, or rather used to host, the excellent Quackometer which, as its name suggests, exposes quackery and woo in the media and elsewhere.
It is a measure of the effectiveness of the Quackometer that the Society of Homeopaths were so worried that, rather than addressing the points he made, they threatened legal action to try to silence him instead.
This was quite unjustified and was exposed for what it was – a bully boy attempt to muzzle free speech and accurate and fair comment. The challenge was taken up by others and the SOH’s nasty tactics were exposed by bloggers across the world. See here for an example.
Poor old SOH – their threats were just as effective as their bottles of water and their sugar tablets!
Anyway, having successfully resisted one set of deluded cyberbullies, the Quackometer soon faced another one. The bizarre Joseph Chikelue Obi
